Music Festivals with Purpose

The discretionary decisions in our lives are often made in search of a sense of belonging, and our cultures are the shared currency that connects us

The Nor’easter was a three-day celebration of Sport, Music & Conservation that I produced from 2008-2011. My client, Eastern Mountain Sports, wisely foresaw the move away from big box retail coming and recruited my firm to create experiences drawing Millennial eyeballs to their brand.

The Nor'easter: Sport, Music, Conservation and Spectacle.

Building Culture

The festival featured twenty two bands on three stages, a UBC Pro Tour competition that was broadcast globally live online, cycling, a road race, a vendor village for over fifty sponsors and tertiary events throughout the host city. The scope of the events gave me an opportunity to pursue place-making on a large scale and to create meaningfully differentiated experiences of curiosity, interaction and awe.

Profit with Purpose

The Nor'easter was my first experience using the system we have to create the change that we all wish to see. Each year the festival made a tangible positive impact on a local community, bridging for a moment, the societal gap between profit and purpose.

The Show Must Go On

When it comes to handling pressure and creating systems that can withstand a fluid tactical environment, there is no substitute for mastering live event production.
