So, this one time I spent 72hrs hours in a military bunker deep in the Alps with some Swiss army generals teaching me fatigue-loaded crisis management.

Swiss Army Crisis Management Training & Simulation Certified

Anyone who has ever been an entrepreneur or turned-around a struggling firm has some experience with crisis-management, but it seems to be a theme in my career. In fact, my first job out of high school was as a climbing & helicopter rescue ranger/EMT, so I've always felt reasonably comfortable dealing with high-pressure environments like live television or difficult negotiations. And when I was presented with a chance to formally train with the Swiss Army as part of my EMBA, I was naturally very excited.

This program focused on a very precise planning strategy executed in parallel with intentional sleep-deprivation to complicate the decision-making process. After two days of preparation, my team was charged with managing an airport through a simulated series of disasters. I was chosen as the team lead, and as you can see at the bottom-left, we emerged smiling and successful from the challenge.

You know you're surrounded by good people when you still like everyone after 72hrs locked in a military bunker.

Afterwards we enjoyed traditional Swiss music and posed with our country's flags.
